Today I'm supposed to cleaning house for the arrival of family members for a couple of days. What am I doing? Researching how to make sterno cans or buddy burners with paraffin is what I've been researching. I ended up on the frugal living section on about.com and have found a bagillion other times I want to try as well. Hmmm.....clean house or frugil livings FANTASTIC ideas. Still here at the computer, that choice wasn't too difficult to make.

Hand Sanitizer recipe
1 cup aloe vera gel
2 tsp Isopropyl alcohol 91%
Mix the aloe vera and Isopropyl alcohol together until well blended.
Add 8-10 drops of essential oil to the mixture for fragrance (if desired), and stir well.
Pour the finished hand sanitizer into an empty container and seal.
Tips:
Many essential oils like tea tree oil and lavender have antibacterial properties. Use one of these to boost the germ-zapping power of your hand sanitizer.
Save the bottles from store-bought hand sanitizer, and refill them again and again.
A little goes a long way with this recipe. Once applied, just rub your hands together until the moisture evaporates and the stickiness vanishes.

Epsom Salt Fertilizer
1 Tablespoon Epsom Salt
1 gallon water
1. Combine the Epsom salt and water.
2. Use the solution to water your plants.
3. Repeat once a month.
Epsom salt is made up of magnesium and sulfate – both vital plant nutrients. Some magnesium-loving plants to try it on: houseplants, roses, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes.
Homemade Fertilizer Ideas

Store-bought mold and mildew removers aren't good for your lungs; make your own highly-effective tub and tile cleaner. To do so, simply fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water. Then, zap that mold or mildew wherever it lurks.

Another cleaning option: Soak a sponge in the vinegar/water solution, and wipe down any areas with mold or mildew growth. The acetic acid in vinegar kills mold and mildew, and also inhibits the growth of future mold and mildew.
